Companies like Daifuku are introducing innovative technologies to automate processes and solve the labor shortage problem in Japan's manufacturing sector.
Contactless power supply systems, in particular, have become essential in cleanroom environments like semiconductor factories.
The use of robots and AI is expanding across various fields, including unmanned bulldozers and autonomous tractors, contributing to solving the labor shortage.
In Japan's manufacturing sector, there is a growing movement to solve the increasingly severe labor shortage through innovative technologies. In particular, the 'non-contact power supply system' developed by Daifuku, a specialist in automated logistics solutions, has garnered attention as a revolutionary technology.
Daifuku's Senior Researcher, Shingo Naito, explained, "Conventional 'contact power supply systems' used to transport cargo in factories and logistics facilities had issues such as dust generation and sparks due to friction." He added, "Regular cleaning and parts replacement were essential for maintenance."
In response, Daifuku developed the innovative 'non-contact power supply system.' By attaching two power lines covered with resin to the side of the rail, they successfully prevented dust generation and sparks. Senior Researcher Naito stated, "This system has become an indispensable technology in industries such as automotive, food, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductor manufacturing."
Semiconductor manufacturing processes require the removal of even the tiniest impurities, demanding the highest level of cleanliness. Daifuku's non-contact power supply system allows for safe cargo transport even in cleanroom environments, leading to its adoption by leading semiconductor companies worldwide.
Daifuku's Public Relations Manager, Akihiko Oiwa, commented, "Our technology is significantly contributing to resolving the labor shortage." He further added, "We will continue to strive for the development of the Japanese economy."
Furthermore, cutting-edge technologies are taking the lead in addressing labor shortages in various fields. For instance, in construction, 'unmanned bulldozers' are employed, while in agriculture, 'autonomous tractors' are utilized. These advancements leverage robotics and AI to automate simple tasks and enable complex operations.
The government is also implementing support measures to alleviate the labor shortage. It is anticipated that the synergy between innovative technologies and government policies will drive the advancement of Japan's manufacturing industry.
