Since June 8th, KADOKAWA Group websites have experienced system failures, making official sites and Ebten inaccessible.
The website outage has made it impossible to order books and view bibliographic information, hindering bookstore and author sales and promotional efforts.
KADOKAWA is collaborating with external experts to investigate the cause, establish a temporary portal site, and assess whether any information has been leaked.
Due to a system failure that has been ongoing since the early morning of June 8th on various websites of the KADOKAWA Group, Japanese publishers and authors are also being affected. KADOKAWA has stated that the possibility of unauthorized access is high, and as of 6 PM on June 11th, sites such as the "KADOKAWA official website" and "ebten" remain inaccessible, including the entire "Nico Nico service".
The system failure affecting websites that handle book orders is also impacting bookstores and authors. On SNS, there are voices from bookstores stating that "additional orders for sold products are not possible." Bibliographic information pages are also currently inaccessible. On SNS, authors are expressing concerns about promotion and sales, with comments such as "orders are impossible during the release week" and "especially, the site is inaccessible."
KADOKAWA is continuing its investigation with the cooperation of external experts and the police. On the 11th, they established a temporary group portal site to disseminate corporate information. They are also currently investigating whether any information has been leaked.
