Mitsubishi Motors recently announced that it has received an order for 3,000 'Minicab EV' light commercial electric vehicles from Japan Post for use as delivery vehicles. This marks the first time Japan Post has adopted light commercial EVs for its delivery fleet. Mitsubishi plans to start delivering the vehicles in the fall.

Japan Post has already been operating over 5,000 units of the 'Minicab MiEV', the previous model of the Minicab EV, since 2013. Based on its experience of using Mitsubishi Motors' electric vehicles for about 11 years, Japan Post decided to adopt the new 'Minicab EV' model.

The Minicab EV offers a driving range of 180 km based on the WLTC mode, providing sufficient performance for route delivery. It boasts ample cargo space and can handle heavy loads while maintaining smooth and powerful motor drive for agile handling. Moreover, it is praised for its eco-friendly performance with zero emissions, including CO2, as well as its quiet operation, allowing for noise-free delivery even in residential areas, and its convenience of not requiring fuel refills during working hours.
